Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires a one year probationary period. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. This position has a requirement to lift up to 70 lbs. The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator Certification. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: Employee serves as warehouse worker when necessary and therefore must be able to lift up to 70 pounds repeatedly and for long periods of time. Performs extensive walking and standing and climbs self-standing ladders up to 15 feet high. Employee must be able to physically operate materiel handling equipment such as pallet jack, handcart, and forklift. Working Conditions: Administrative functions are performed in an office area within a warehouse however all other functions are performed in a warehouse environment under extremely hot and cold temperatures. No air conditioning and very little heat exists in the storage area. It is necessary to leave sliding doors open for long periods of time while loading and unloading trucks creating severe drafts. A roof is the only protection against weather while loading and unloading trucks. Work surfaces are concrete. Must wear appropriate safety equipment such as steel toed safety shoes, eye wear, hard hat, and gloves (which is provided by employer).
