Position Overview

This role is for an experienced Intensive Care Registered Nurse at the Clinical Nurse II level, essential to delivering compassionate, patient-focused care in a high-acuity ICU setting. The position demands advanced clinical skills, specialized certifications, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure patient safety and optimal recovery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Coordinate with the healthcare team to provide safe, timely, and equitable care. Perform thorough patient assessments, develop personalized care plans, monitor patient responses, and advocate for patient dignity and confidentiality. Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatments, and lifestyle changes, while promoting evidence-based ICU practices.
• Safety and Compliance: Maintain a clean, safe environment adhering to infection control protocols and regulatory standards such as The Joint Commission and OSHA. Identify and report safety concerns proactively.
• Documentation: Accurately record all care activities, interventions, patient progress, and incidents in electronic medical records.
• Professional Development and Leadership: Mentor new nurses and students, participate in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives, and serve as a resource within the ICU. Take on charge nurse and Rapid Response Team duties as needed.
• Emergency Preparedness: Demonstrate decisive action and advanced clinical skills during critical events like cardiac arrest.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum two years as a Registered Nurse in a high-acuity ICU or equivalent step-down critical care unit. Transitional RN program experience with critical care curriculum completion is also acceptable.
• Competencies: Proficiency with advanced critical care equipment, strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology, ability to maintain sterile procedural fields, rapid decision-making, task prioritization, and effective communication with patients, families, and the care team.
• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five years ICU experience may be considered.
• Licenses and Certifications: Current RN license, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale certification, and Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) or equivalent preferred.
