Middle School Construction Project | Des Moines, WA

SAVI EHS is actively seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to support a middle school construction project in Des Moines, Washington. This position offers an immediate start, with the project expected to continue through January 2027.

The selected candidate will work closely with the Construction Manager, project leadership, and subcontractors to oversee site-wide safety compliance, manage daily EHS activities, and promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project.

The ideal candidate will have strong commercial construction safety experience, excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to independently manage field safety operations in an active school construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance throughout the construction project.
• Conduct and document daily site safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Deliver site-specific safety orientations, toolbox talks, and training.
• Monitor high-risk construction activities, including crane operations, lifting activities, excavation, fall protection, and equipment operations.
• Review Daily Hazard Analyses (DHAs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and pre-task safety plans.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
• Partner with project leadership and subcontractors to promote a proactive safety culture.
• Ensure all subcontractors and trade partners comply with OSHA, Washington State DOSH/WISHA, and project-specific safety requirements.
• Support the development, implementation, and enforcement of project EHS plans, procedures, and safety initiatives.
• Identify field hazards and coordinate timely corrective actions with construction teams.
• Maintain accurate safety documentation, inspection records, training logs, and incident reports.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction EHS experience.
• Commercial construction experience required; K–12 school, educational facility, or similar institutional construction experience preferred.
• OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 certification required.
• CHST, STS-C, ASP, CSP, or equivalent safety credentials preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and Washington State safety regulations.
• Experience managing subcontractor safety and high-risk construction activities.
• Strong leadership, communication, and field safety management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital safety management platforms.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project leadership and trade partners.
• Must be available for an immediate start and able to support the project through January 2027.
