Lead Skilled Building Crafts Mechanic

The Lead Skilled Building Crafts Mechanic shall be responsible to oversee, provide technical training and review work as assigned for HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing Skilled Building Trades, including contractor coordination, creating work orders, and performing Mechanical installation and repairs. Develop within the group predictive maintenance strategies and the adherence of the preventative maintenance program for heating, ventilating, electrical and plumbing systems. Responsible for providing routine mechanical support across the trades for installation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance. Preferred ability to work with or the understanding of DDC HVAC controls and building automation/energy management systems, lighting, and plumbing systems.

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.

• High school diploma or equivalent necessary
• Valid PA driver's license
• ACT 34 and 151 clearance and FBI clearance
• Ability to read and understand plans and specifications
• A working knowledge of all trades
• Possess effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with other teachers, administrators, parents, students, support staff and outside professional contacts.
• Ability to work at height's utilizing ladders, cranes, bucket trucks, etc.; must be able to reach above and below the waist, walk and use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects. Requires use of both hands for repetitive motion. Ability to bend, twist, kneel, stoop, climb, crawl, lift and carry supplies weighing 90 lbs. Ability to work in an internal/external environment subject to temperatures below 32 degrees or above 100 degrees. Ability to stand or walk eighty percent (80%) of the workday and to work alone with little supervision.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

• Ability and knowledge to use computer systems for work order entry, understanding of various building automation, lighting and domestic hot water systems.
• Creates and initiates work requests for the other trades as needed, prioritizes projects, develops, and maintains work schedule for mechanics.
• Plan, coordinate, delegate and monitor projects for all mechanical systems and devices.
• Assists the Supervisor in maintaining the preventative maintenance schedule for all the mechanical equipment within the District, including scheduling of inspections both internally and externally and periodic replacement of this equipment.
• Assists in overseeing the status of any projects as assigned by the Supervisor. Coordinates the completion of these projects including managing the completion of the work by either internal staff or outside vendors.
• Responds to daily emergencies as they arise and works on resolving them.
• Works on daily maintenance work orders or jobs as assigned and accounts for each in the School Dude work order system.
• Operates, maintains, diagnoses, and makes repairs of industrial/commercial type systems and control devices.
• Manages a stock of supplies for these various system components. Procures additional stock and supplies, when necessary, through the District's purchasing process.
• Maintain vehicles, tools, equipment, and supplies for purpose of ensuring availability of materials required at job site.
• Assist/work with other mechanics with repair work and project work on an as needed basis.
• Perform any other duties as directed or assigned by immediate supervisor.

This position is set to begin on or shortly after 12/1/2026. Starting salary for the 26-27 school year is $78,743.00 (subject to be prorated based on start date) & this is a benefits eligible position. Salary and benefits set by LMEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
