Since 1996, our culture of collaboration and unique capabilities have allowed us to make a difference in the way infrastructure and processing projects are delivered.POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIESThe Mechanical Designer III plays a key role in the successful execution of projects, focusing primarily on the production of AutoCAD Plant 3D and Revit drawings. The Mechanical Designer III is responsible for producing quality construction documents and coordinating design work with other engineering disciplines. The successful candidate will also be expected to work within a team environment and collaborate with other project team members. The Mechanical Designer - Level III position is an advanced role focused on taking on significant responsibility in design tasks with an emphasis on independent work. This role involves completing design documents for assigned projects, mentoring junior designers, and contributing to project management.Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:Layout and design mechanical systems for assigned projectsGeneral Arrangement DrawingsP&ID preparationConstruction DocumentsCreation of 3D-models and piping isometric drawingsPerform design work on complex and diverse projects, often requiring multiple technologiesCoordinate project design with other disciplinesPerform accurate design calculations and measurementsConducts construction observations.Sizes and selects components for mechanical systems.Collaborate with others as a CAD and design resource and provide training when assignedIndependently perform assigned layout work and Smart 3D Design tasksTrain and mentor junior designersDesign piping systems independentlyConduct field visits and data collectionEstimate project hours for own tasksManage small projects independentlyWrite specifications for review by Engineer of RecordRepresent the company at project meetings with approvalContribute to flowsheets and P&ID designPerform equipment sizing and selectionCoordinate design with all stakeholdersApply advanced mechanical system design principles (chilled water, steam, etc.)Demonstrate proficiency in at least one specialized area: Plumbing Design, Piping Design, HVAC Design, Fire Protection Design, or General Arrangement Design.Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSRequiredAn AAS Degree in design/drafting or equivalent work experience.Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without the need for work sponsorship now or in the future.Minimum of 6 years of work experience in mechanical design or related field.Experience in central boiler and/or chiller plants required but will consider one or more of the following: Agribusiness process plants, Facility manufacturing, Food Manufacturing / Clean Systems, Underground tunnel distribution systems, Mechanical equipment / skid design.Advanced knowledge of building codes and industry standards.Excellent project management and leadership skills.Advanced proficiency in CAD software, particularly Plant 3D Design (will consider Revit).Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Knowledge of computer technology and specific areas of application, including MS Office.Travel: May include up to 10% domestic travel.PreferredField experience is desirable.Experience in a consulting and/or construction capacity.Experience in cost estimating and budgeting for mechanical projectsWorking ConditionsSome work locations will feature the tough terrain typical of construction sites.CORE BEHAVIORSAccountableDemonstrates persistence in the achievement of goals.Acts with a sense of urgency.Takes responsibility for own actions.Business FocusDemonstrates agility, adapts well to changes.Works well under pressure.Meets commitments to internal/external customers.Project ExecutionPlans projects well, managing last-minute rushes and disruptions.Balances Speed and Quality.Looks for improvement in our delivery, tools and processes.Other duties as assigned.Demonstrates Respect for OthersKeeps others adequately informed.Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views.Adapts communication style and method based on audience and situation.Team PlayerBalances team and individual responsibilities.Shares expertise with others.Inspires respect and trust.Benefits:Health, dental and vision insurance coverageVirtual health servicesHealth Savings Account (HSA) & Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) for HDHP enrollees with KFI contributionsFlexible Spending Account401(k) planShort-term and long-term disability insurance, life and AD&D insuranceEmployee Assistance ProgramPaid Time Off to include Earned Sick and Safe Time in accordance with state lawsCompany Paid HolidaysTuition ReimbursementBereavement LeaveVoluntary benefits offered include life, accident, critical illness coverageCompensation : $40.00-51.00 per hour.
