Who May Apply This position, Registered Nurse II - Temporary (Job Requisition #53739) , is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full‑time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week. Responsibilities Duties primarily performed in a clinical setting. Work may require travel off‑site. Exposure to communicable diseases, blood‑borne pathogens, potential physical and verbal violence from patients, and other stressful situations may occur. Overtime work is required to maintain minimum staffing levels and for unannounced regulatory inspections and is considered a condition of employment. The ability to work overtime when required is an essential function of this job class. Environmental Factors Work may require evenings, nights, weekends, and extended shifts as the need arises. Minimum Qualifications Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi‑state license AND two (2) years or more of professional nursing experience in the nursing specialty. Must maintain Vermont licensure as a Registered Nurse OR be eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi‑state license as a condition of employment. Background check: Candidates, including current State employees, must pass a fingerprint‑supported background investigation applicable to the position. Background investigations include national criminal record checks, DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Specialty Areas Psychiatric Geriatric Pediatric/Adolescent Special Requirements Overtime work is required to maintain minimum staffing levels and for unannounced regulatory inspections and is considered a condition of employment.
