MS Ambrogio (MSA) is an innovative supplier producing metal components with advanced stamping and welding technologies. Position Title: Tool Room Machinist Reports To: Tool Room Leader Pay Rate: $24.98 - $29.32 Shift: 2nd (2:30 pm - 10:30 pm) Position Overview The Tool Room Machinist is responsible for the fabrication, maintenance, and repair of precision tooling used in MSA’s stamping and manufacturing processes. This role ensures tooling accuracy, reliability, and readiness to support production schedules, new product introductions, and continuous improvement initiatives. The machinist collaborates closely with Tool Room leadership, die maintenance teams, engineering, and production to deliver high-quality components that meet MSA’s safety, quality, and performance standards. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Manufacture precision tooling components using manual and CNC machining equipment, including grinders, mills, lathes, and EDM machines. Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T specifications to produce components to exact tolerances. Perform tooling repairs, sharpening, adjustments, and rebuilds to support production uptime. Conduct preventive maintenance on tooling and document all work performed in accordance with MSA standards. Diagnose tooling issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Support qualification runs, engineering trials, and NPI tooling development. Inspect finished components using precision measurement tools to ensure compliance with MSA quality requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following all MSA safety policies and procedures. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve tooling‑related issues and support continuous improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in machining or toolmaking preferred. 3–5 years of experience as a toolmaker, machinist, or equivalent role in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency with manual and CNC machining equipment (surface grinding, milling, turning, EDM). Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T. Skilled in the use of precision measurement instruments (micrometers, indicators, height gauges). Solid understanding of tool steels, heat‑treat processes, and machining best practices. Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in high‑speed stamping environments (e.g., Bihler, Bruderer). Familiarity with CAD/CAM systems. Experience supporting NPI tooling development and qualification activities. Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Use of required PPE and adherence to all MSA safety protocols. Ability to lift, move, and handle tooling components and materials as required. Regular exposure to machining equipment, oils, coolants, and shop‑floor environments. Standing, walking, and manual work for extended periods.
