Tioga Medical Center is a leading healthcare provider seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Housekeeping Staff. With a focus on maintaining a clean and comfortable environment, you will play a crucial role in supporting the well‑being of our patients and residents. Position Details Position Type: Full‑time (36 hours/week) Shift: 10:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday Salary: $17.25 per hour Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Responsibilities Carry out all cleaning duties as directed by the Plant Operations Director, adhering to department policies and procedures. Ensure daily and deep cleaning schedules are followed. Maintain high standards of personal presentation and hygiene. Use cleaning equipment safely, maintain it in good condition, and report defects. Practice sensitivity to the privacy and individual needs of patients and residents. Adhere to infection control policies and proper use of personal protective equipment. Complete necessary documentation daily. Dust furniture, woodwork, equipment, and furnishings; mop floors; polish and clean fixtures in rooms and bathrooms. Wet‑mop rooms, halls, and other areas; shampoo rugs and furniture. Clean vents, fan fixtures, tops of windows, door frames, and other high surfaces. Gather and dispose of trash and waste materials using specified bags and containers. Move furniture and heavy objects as required. Perform terminal cleaning procedures of patient and resident rooms, prepare rooms for new admissions, and follow isolation procedures in isolation rooms. Clean and disinfect all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls of bathrooms. Make supply packs for departments and put linen stacks in carts for distribution; take supply requests and deliver them. Deliver linen to nursing and therapy departments. Keep work areas neat and orderly, clean equipment, and assist with other cleaning duties as assigned. Attend department and in‑service meetings. Carry out other duties assigned by the Environmental Services Manager and/or CEO. Treat all residents and patients with dignity and respect; promote and protect their rights. Establish a culture of compliance by adhering to all facility policies and procedures. Follow safety and hygiene measures to protect residents, patients, and yourself. Understand and demonstrate knowledge of infection control practices, universal precautions, OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen Standard, and follow compliance with established policies. Maintain confidentiality of protected health information. Report non‑compliance, retaliation, discrimination, abuse, neglect, misappropriation, exploitation, or mistreatment to appropriate personnel. Report occupational exposures and any work‑related injuries or illnesses immediately to supervisor. Participate in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings; fulfill responsibilities during activation of the facility's emergency plan. Complete all assigned training and skills competency as a condition of employment. Personal Skills & Physical Requirements Read, write, speak, and understand English. Supportive team member; contribute to and exemplify teamwork. Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant. Tactfully deal with personnel, residents, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public. Exercise patience, tact, and willingness to handle difficult residents, patients, families, and staff. Do not pose a threat to the health and safety of others. Move intermittently throughout the workday, maintain balance, stand for prolonged periods, possess good hand dexterity. Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting, and other common physical movements as required. Push, pull, carry, and lift at least 40 pounds. Meet general health requirements per facility policy. Work beyond normal hours and on weekends and holidays if necessary. Assist in evacuation of residents and patients during emergencies. Be prepared for exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and hazardous chemicals. Handle hostile or emotional residents, patients, family members, visitors, or personnel with composure. Work independently and as part of a team, organize, plan, and manage time efficiently. Communicate effectively with medical and nursing staff and other departments. Follow oral and written instructions. Maintain composure in stressful situations; adapt, be friendly, courteous, and caring.
