Mental Health Admissions Therapist

BrightQuest Treatment Centers in La Mesa, CA is hiring for an Admissions Therapist.

Primary Purpose & Function:

The Admissions Therapist is responsible for providing clinical assessment, support, and coordination throughout the pre-admission, assessment, admission, and immediate post-admission processes for incoming clients and their families while continuing to provide Associate Therapist clinical responsibilities as assigned. The Admissions Therapist serves as the primary clinical point of contact during the admissions experience and works collaboratively with Admissions, Clinical, Medical, and Program staff to ensure a clinically appropriate, coordinated, and exceptional transition into treatment. This position conducts clinical phone screens and onsite clinical interviews, supports the clinical approval process, completes the clinical components of the Biopsychosocial Assessment excluding medical portions, provides clinical ownership and support to clients and families on the day of admission, completes designated admission-day clinical and communication responsibilities, and supports client onboarding and immediate client, family, and referent needs following admission. The Admissions Therapist also provides cross-coverage within Admissions, including phone coverage and other admissions-related responsibilities as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical phone screens and onsite clinical interviews with prospective clients and/or referral sources to obtain and synthesize information necessary for clinical review, approval, and admission.
• Conduct onsite clinical interviews with prospective clients and families and assess for clinical appropriateness for BrightQuest, including identifying relevant clinical, safety, behavioral, treatment, or other barriers to admission, and communicate findings and recommendations to the appropriate Admissions, Clinical, Medical, and Program staff.
• Complete the clinical components of the Biopsychosocial Assessment, excluding medical portions, in accordance with policy standards, and document assessments and findings accurately and timely in KIPU and other applicable systems.
• Serve as the primary clinical point of contact for clients and families between assessment and admission when clinically indicated, maintaining engagement and addressing questions, concerns, or barriers that may impact a successful transition to treatment.
• Provide clinical support and continuity for the client and family throughout the admission-day experience, including responding to emerging clinical, emotional, or transitional needs and coordinating appropriate support.
• Complete designated admission-day responsibilities, including staff communication and KIPU enrollment, and communicate relevant clinical information to the receiving treatment team to ensure the team is prepared for the client’s arrival.
• Coordinate with the Admissions Advisor to ensure a seamless admissions experience.
• Support client onboarding and address immediate client, family, and referent needs during the initial days following admission, facilitating communication with the appropriate members of the treatment team.
• Collaborate with Clinical and Admissions teams to ensure continuity of information and care from the admissions process into the treatment experience.
• Carry a clinical caseload as determined by the Leadership Team, when assigned.
• Provide direct clinical services, including individual, family/couple, and group psychotherapy, as assigned.
• Participate in clinical meetings, trainings, supervision, outreach, public-speaking events, and staff meetings as assigned.
• Communicate with referents and clients’ outside treatment providers as clinically appropriate and/or directed by the Clinical Outreach team.
• Attend weekly individual supervision as directed by licensure status or Executive Director.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical record documentation, including progress notes, admission and discharge documentation, treatment plan updates, and other required clinical documentation.
• Participate in treatment planning and develop and carry out comprehensive treatment plans drawing on available clinical data.
• Provide clinical support and coverage as needed to address client clinical needs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• At least 18 years of age.
• License eligible PhD, PsyD, MFT, ASW/CSW, PCCI/APC/APCC, LPC-MHSP, or MHC. Must actively be pursuing licensure within the criteria set by state guidelines.
• Specific, required, current, and active licensure, registration, and/or certification must be maintained in good standing.
• Two years of clinical experience required; residential behavioral health experience preferred.
• Behavioral health treatment experience required.
• Experience conducting clinical assessments and Biopsychosocial Assessments.
• Experience working with complex mental illness and co-occurring disorders, preferably within a residential setting.
• Experience working with family members and referents of identified clients.
• Sound understanding of mental illness, co-occurring disorders, milieu therapy, mental health treatment, and levels of care based on individual client needs.
• Ability to synthesize information obtained from clients, family members, referral sources, previous treatment providers, and other collateral sources to support clinical assessment and admission decisions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, referral sources, and multidisciplinary treatment teams.
• Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and identify clinical, safety, and treatment-related concerns that may impact admission or successful transition to treatment.
• Comprehensive treatment planning and clinical case conceptualization skills.
• Embraces and champions a client-centered care focus.
• Proficient computer skills and ability to use various software programs, including KIPU and other electronic documentation systems.
• First Aid/CPR certified.
• Have a valid driver’s license in good standing and auto insurance.
• Successfully complete comprehensive background check (including criminal record clearance), MVR screen, and drug screen.
• Successfully complete required health screening, including a current and valid TB clearance.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
• Flexibility to work evenings, nights, and weekends, and adapt schedule as needed.
