Compensation Specialist

Compensation Operations Specialist Location: Candidates must work in-office one to two days per week. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a reasonable commuting distance from an office in Illinois or Virginia. Hybrid or virtual work arrangements are not available unless an accommodation as required by law is granted. Key Responsibilities Serve as lead and subject‑matter expert, providing complex analytical and administrative support to the Compensation Center of Excellence (COE) in the execution and management of enterprise‑wide compensation programs. Partner closely with the COE to enhance, implement, and manage compensation programs, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement. Oversee both escalated and routine employee compensation‑related inquiries, transactions, and issue resolution. Drive program effectiveness through auditing, testing, identifying improvements, and implementing enhancements. Manage and support the annual merit and bonus cycle, including system testing, readiness, and leader support. Administer the enterprise Quarterly Incentive Program (QIP) from end‑to‑end, optimizing system design, testing, implementation, monitoring trends, and providing guidance to business leaders. Assist with major compensation data changes during mergers, acquisitions, market pricing adjustments, incentive plan changes, or other mass data changes using the Workday EIB process. Maintain compensation systems, tools, and processes, leveraging complex data analysis to identify trends and recommend strategic improvements. Coach, mentor, and train team members while championing process optimization, automation, and documentation to improve operational efficiency and service delivery. Minimum Requirements BA/BS degree in HR, business, or related discipline. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in compensation and/or HR Operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences Experience with Workday Compensation modules. Experience in operations and customer‑service roles with strong understanding of HRIS and technology applications. Healthcare and/or insurance industry experience. Effective organization, meticulous attention to detail, and knowledge of business financial terms. Salary and Benefits Salary range: $70,800 to $116,820.
