Corrections Nurse 1/2 – Goose Creek Correctional Center Alaska Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Health and Rehabilitation Services is recruiting for a Corrections Nurse 1/2 to join the team at the Goose Creek Correctional Center (GCCC), located in Mackenzie Point, Alaska. Nurses working in correctional settings exercise autonomy and must become fluent in our policy, procedures and protocols as well as have a deep understanding of their scope of practice. Who We Are Looking For Analytical thinking/problem solving Continual learning Evidence‑based practice Strategic thinking Teamwork Minimum Qualifications Correction Nurse 1: Eligible for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska. Correction Nurse 2: Eligible for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Alaska and either: successful completion of a formal training plan as a Corrections Nurse I with the State of Alaska; or one year of entry‑level experience as a Registered Nurse. Prior experience or training in other specialties of nursing care (e.g., Med‑Surg, Psychiatric, Public Health, Critical Care) will be evaluated for comparability on a case‑by‑case basis. Preliminary Requirements Background investigation, including fingerprinting, is required as a prerequisite to employment. Proof of clearance of active pulmonary tuberculosis; employees are required to be tested annually. Valid driver's license required. Conditional job offers may be made to candidates not currently licensed; proof of licensure will be required before final appointment and reporting for duty.
