Power Generation Field Service Technician - Level III

Job Summary Technical specialist and primary customer support contact to diagnose and execute complex repairs to generators and components at the customer’s site. Key Responsibilities Establishes and continually develops productive customer relations and ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs. Applies specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete complex repairs at customer site. Performs preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on power generation products in the field. Escalates unresolved issues to product specialists or supervisor. Coaches and develops technicians and/or apprentices, transfers knowledge and experience, and may provide work direction or review repair plans and parts lists. Completes required documentation such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens. Completes training in line with skill and business requirements. Maintains service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation. Ensures adherence to all relevant health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and legislation and reports any issues or incidents to site management and supervisor. Develops and delivers multi‑mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences. Builds strong customer relationships and delivers customer‑centric solutions. Develops people to meet both their career goals and the organization’s goals. Manages complexity by making sense of high volume or contradictory information to solve problems effectively. Handles conflict situations effectively with minimal disruption. Actively seeks new ways to grow and be challenged through formal and informal development channels. Champions proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting, and participating in actions to improve workplace safety. Translates customer complaints into troubleshooting plans, troubleshoots using guided workflows and specialized equipment, diagnoses software and hardware failures, validates repairs, and documents results in business systems. Identifies and utilizes the appropriate electronic tool set for service events, interprets results, and determines next steps. Interprets and analyzes internal and external electrical and mechanical system interactions (exhaust, heating, cooling, fuel, driveline, aftertreatment, controls, sensors, etc.) using tools, service publications, and measurements to diagnose and repair efficiently. Demonstrates knowledge of Cummins and industry standards, complies with safe work procedures including PPE, and applies tools and service publications to diagnose and repair power generation system operations and integrations. Repairs and maintains mechanical/electrical products following guidelines, uses required tools within standard repair time, and inspects and replaces parts to minimize customer cost of ownership. Creates and verifies customer, equipment, and technical information, captures specific data using required service tools, and documents all required information in the service management system for accurate record‑keeping. Obtains product technical issue information, utilizes data management tools, elevates issues to higher expertise levels, and captures all troubleshooting steps in the database for seamless transitions and accurate ticket resolution.
