Job Title: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Must have an in-state license prior to start date Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, FHM Must-Have: - Previous charge experience is preferred - Experience with patient ratio management - Experience with Cerner charting system is required Description: The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides care to patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. Responsibilities include labor management, induction, and handling scheduled and unscheduled C-sections. The nurse will assess and monitor high-risk patients, manage antepartum conditions, and triage patients as needed. Knowledge of various procedures such as SROM, PPROM, and preeclampsia management is essential. Nurses are expected to perform assessments, assist in deliveries, and provide postpartum care. The unit follows staffing guidelines to maintain safe patient ratios during active labor and postpartum care. Additional tasks involve monitoring fetal heart rates and addressing complications during labor. Professional collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is necessary to ensure comprehensive patient care. Flexibility to float to different areas within the facility is required based on patient needs. The nurse will be responsible for education and support to new parents, ensuring a positive experience during their hospital stay.
