We are building something genuinely special for SE Kansas — a scratch kitchen rooted in local sourcing, real technique, and genuine hospitality in an upscale, casual setting. Our goal is to source as locally as possible — supporting the farms, ranches, and producers right here in SE Kansas. We intend to make as much as we can, using real traditional cooking methods and genuine technique. Every plate that leaves this kitchen is made with intention, every day. We seat 175 in a full-service dining room and event space, with a full bar program and year-round golf tournament and banquet catering. This is a real operation with real volume — and we're building a team that's serious about the craft. Position Overview: As a Server at Ember & Oak you will be responsible for providing exceptional guest services while demonstrating a welcoming and positive dining experience for every guest. Server Duties and Responsibilities: Greet guests promptly and provide friendly, attentive service throughout their dining experience. Accurately take food and beverage orders and communicate orders to the kitchen and bar. Demonstrate knowledge of menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, and available beverages. Answer guest questions and make appropriate recommendations when requested. Deliver food and beverages accurately and in a timely manner. Monitor guest needs and provide attentive service at all times. Process guest payments accurately and responsibly. Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked service areas. Follow all food-safety, sanitation, and restaurant policies. Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, management, hosts/hostesses, bartenders, and other team members. Address guest concerns professionally and notify management when additional assistance is needed. Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, and other restaurant duties as assigned. Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude while representing Embar & Oak. Other duties as assigned. Server Education and Qualifications: Previous restaurant, serving, hospitality, or customer-service experience preferred . Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to provide professional and courteous customer service. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately handle multiple orders and responsibilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and safely carry food, beverages, and service items. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Must meet all applicable legal requirements for serving alcoholic beverages, if applicable to the position. The ideal candidate is friendly, reliable, service-oriented, and takes pride in creating an excellent guest experience. We are looking for someone who works well with others, handles busy periods with composure, and represents Embar & Oak with professionalism. Server Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of Server, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of Server, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work involves exposure to hot surfaces and sharp utensils.
