Full-Time Dining Room Supervisor

Guardian has a need for a Full-Time Dining Room Supervisor to join our team at Discovery Point! Discovery Point is a 183-unit Retirement Community in Mesa, AZ. For this position, we are seeking a dynamic self-starter who enjoys working with others and excels in a fast-paced food service environment. The ideal candidate will be friendly, communicative, and comfortable overseeing other staff. The Dining Room Supervisor will be responsible for running the front of house dining services department. This will include hiring dining room employees, supervising all dining room staff, and ordering supplies to assure meals are served promptly, courteously, and in compliance with sanitation regulations in a clean and attractive dining room. Schedule: 40 hours/week, various hours. Compensation: $23.00/hr + bonus potential! Qualification Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must have valid food handler's card.
• Must be able to speak, read and write English in a manner sufficient to carry out the duties of this position.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and able to manage numerous resident orders at the same time and ensure an exceptional dining experience.
• Ability to speak, read and write in English.
• Ability to communicate effectively and in a timely manner; both verbally and in writing.
• Able to complete company training requirements for this position within pre-determined deadlines and attend other training sessions as required.
• Previous supervisory experience in restaurant style Dining Room.

Essential Functions:

• Represent Guardian in a positive and professional manner at all times.
• Support Food Service Director in managing dining room staff in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws for food serving, handling, preparation, storage and disposal.
• Attend and coordinate food committee meetings.
• Responsible for delegating tasks, training, and scheduling of dining room servers.
• Ensure cleanliness of dining room/server station and awareness of health safety issues for self and staff.
• Reviews menus, beverage lists and food specials and ensures servers attend pre-meal meeting, to ensure that servers are properly prepared to attend to residents and guests.
• Handle the seating chart and make alterations as needed. Reviews menu board and menus for correctness.
• Serve late residents and guests and accommodate resident's special needs and concerns. Coordinate the delivery of meal trays to resident apartments as needed.
• Serve beverages, cereals, soups, salads, meals and desserts as needed.
• Make sure dining room is clean and attractive immediately following meal service, with proper arrangement of tables and chairs, proper table decoration and settings, and clean carpets and floors.
• Ensuring completion of side duties such as adding sugar and creamer packets, cleaning beverage center, replenishing service bar, etc.
• Responsible for inventorying Front of the House items for servers and report any items needed to be purchased to Chef on or before order day.
• Assist with banquets and special events and performs other duties as assigned by management.
• Maintains food handlers permit for self and servers as necessary to fulfill state or provincial regulations.
• Assist Food Service Director in ensuring dining room servers are completing required company training as well as any training necessary to fulfill local, state, or provincial regulations.
• Train servers and ensure all new hires are trained appropriately to provide quality food service to residents.
• Scheduling of servers and prepare a monthly schedule for dining room while following budgetary guidelines.
• Manage resident relations and complaints
• Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships between departments and with coworkers.
• Accurately record time worked and ensure that dining room servers adhere to time keeping guidelines. Obtain approval for any overtime and help dining staff coordinate their schedules to avoid overtime when possible.
• Other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director or Executive Director.
• Assist Food Service Director with periodic reviews of servers work and evaluations
