Senior Accountant

Harcum College, a progressive, independent, associate degree granting college in Bryn Mawr, PA, has an immediate opening for a Senior Accountant.Reporting to the Controller the Senior Accountant contributes significantly to the accuracy and timeliness of Harcum College financial activities. This position involves managing general accounting functions, preparing financial statements, and providing insights into the College financial performance The position may provide direction to junior staff, ensures compliance with accounting regulations, and works closely with internal and external stakeholders including auditors, faculty and other staff.Responsibilities:Help compile, analyze and interpret financial dataPerform account reconciliations and prepare and process ournal entriesPost cash receipts on a daily basis. Ensure receipts are correctly coded to the general ledgerReconcile room and board charges to the student information system and general ledgerPrepare student loans schedules for the month end closePrepare schedules for the month end close and annual auditAssist with preparation and review of departmental budgets for senior management reviewHelp prepare a monthly financial statement analysis for FinanceAssists with budgeting and forecastingProvide support for audits and tax filingsEnsure compliance with accounting standards and regulationsWorks closely with other offices to reconcile transactions and resolve discrepancieAssist with any other related projects and activities as deemed necessaryQualifications / Skills:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 3 or more years of direct accounting work experience; advanced degree, training, and certifications including a CPA are a plusStrong working knowledge of accounting principles and practicesStrong attention to detail and customer serviceStrong computer skills –Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)Broad experience with various accounting software packages; experience with PowerCampus or Great Plains is a plusExperience in public accounting, Nonprofits, or Higher education is a plusStrong written and verbal communication skillThe ability to manage multiple prioritiesStrong organizational skillsABOUT HARCUM COLLEGEHarcum College is a private independent, coeducational, fully accredited, residential college.
