Affinity Consulting Group is assisting with the hiring of a Non-Profit Organizations Corporate Attorney for one of our law firm clients. This is a remote position for someone located in the New York City vicinity.About the Law Firm:The firm is an established NYC-based boutique law firm focused exclusively on advising nonprofit organizations and mission-driven entities. Founded in 2011, the firm has operated continuously and profitably since inception. The firm represents a broad range of nonprofit and mission-driven clients working in areas such as economic development, fiscal sponsorship, conservation, youth services, the arts, government improvement, education, and technology.   Many of our clients are deeply rooted in supporting and advancing New York City, and the firm's impact is visible throughout the City. The Firm provides our clients with hands-on long-term corporate counsel representation that is more akin to an in-house general counsel than the typical narrow scope law firm representation.  We work with all levels and facets of their organizations, and provide a blend of legal, strategic and pragmatic guidance. Our clients think of us as their legal experts, thought partners and team members. The Role:We are seeking an experienced transactional attorney to join the Firm's growing practice.  This is a client-facing corporate role within a focused tax-exempt organizations practice. Matters are sophisticated, high-volume, and operationally real, involving governance, contracts, and organizational decision-making for nonprofits. The attorney in this position will work across the full breadth of the firm's corporate and nonprofit matters.   The position involves a broad range of corporate and nonprofit legal work, including: Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing contracts, from routine operational agreements to complex and specialized transactions, including the development of user-friendly templates Advising on nonprofit governance, board matters, and organizational policies Handling all aspects of corporate formation and restructuring Conducting legal research on New York Non-Profit Corporation Law, employment law, and legislative developments affecting nonprofit organizations Candidate Qualifications: We are seeking an experienced attorney with a solid academic and professional record and a demonstrated focus on advising nonprofit organizations.Candidates should have:J.D. with strong academic credentials and admission to practice in New York5+ years of direct nonprofit corporate transactional experience, ideally within a tax-exempt organization or advising tax-exempt organization clients regularly at a law firmExperience handling nonprofit governance, contracts, and corporate matters as a core part of their practice (i.e., not just occasional nonprofit or pro bono matters)Ability to step into client matters with minimal ramp-up and limited trainingA genuine commitment to mission-driven work and building a long-term role with the Firm. Candidates should be seeking a long-term, committed role within a boutique firm environment Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following skills:Exercise good judgment-and know when to ask questionsWrite clearly and thoughtfully, translating complex legal issues into practical guidanceSee the big picture without missing the detailsExcellent attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities without losing momentumWork well independently, but value collaboration and teamworkAdept at managing time, meeting deadlines and taking directionComfortable in a small firm where entrepreneurial motivation replaces bureaucracyHighly self-directed, with the ability to manage client matters independently with minimal supervisionStrong comfort with technology and ability to operate efficiently in a remote practice Is this the job for you? The firm has an existing and ongoing book of business that has grown faster than the firm's staffing.  This job is for an experienced nonprofit corporate lawyer, who is ready to step into work for the firm's clients.  In this role, the hired candidate will develop a nuanced understanding the firm's clients and their issues and history, with the goal of becoming client facing and managing client projects independently.   Candidates are not expected to bring their own book or business.  However, the hired candidate will be encouraged to learn and engage in the Firm's business development strategies. This position is for a straight shooter, looking to do high-quality work without the politics of a larger firm or company, and interested in a clear long-term path to career development.    Flexible Hours and Location (Remote) This position can be a full-time position, or the Firm may hire one or more part-time roles.   Full-time attorneys will enjoy a flexible salaried schedule but are expected to be available generally during our client's working hours.   The schedule and hours of part-time attorneys will be determined on a case-by-case basis.  While the schedule can be flexible, it should be fairly regular to ensure consistency and availability to meet client demands. This is a remote position for someone located in New York City, or within four (4) hours of New York City who is available for occasional meetings in NYC. The firm operates out of New York City and Rhinebeck, NY.   While the Firm's work is fast-paced and demands high standards in meeting client needs, we maintain a strong commitment to scheduling flexibility and work-life balance.    The Firm offers a generous benefits package to full-time employees, including health, dental, vision, life, 401k profit sharing, defined benefit retirement plan, and paid vacation. Part-time compensation will be prorated based on the agreed-upon hours commitment.
