Shawnee, OK | $25-$28/Hour


Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Maker for a great opportunity in the Shawnee, OK area. This position is responsible for manufacturing, repairing, and providing input on the design of a variety of tools, dies, specialized parts, and devices used in machinery and production equipment.


The ideal candidate will have strong machining experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Job Summary


The Tool & Die Maker will work with precise measurements and complex technical plans while setting up and operating a variety of equipment, including:

• Surface grinders
• Tool and cutter grinders
• Manual and CNC milling machines
• Manual and CNC lathes
• Saws
• Welding equipment
• Other equipment necessary to complete daily tasks

This position will work closely with other Tool & Die Makers, Manufacturing Engineers, and production staff to manufacture and repair tools, dies, fixtures, and other equipment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical prints to understand required parts and specifications
• Manufacture and repair tools, dies, fixtures, and production equipment using machine tools and welding equipment
• Program and operate CNC mills and CNC lathes as required
• Set up and operate manual mills and lathes
• Work with close tolerances related to drilling, boring, reaming, milling, and turning
• Measure finished parts using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
• Assemble, disassemble, and test products to ensure functionality and quality
• Inspect finished products for defects and ensure they meet quality standards
• Perform regular maintenance on machine tools to ensure optimal performance
• Work closely with engineers and production staff to ensure tools and dies meet manufacturing requirements
• Follow all Environmental, Health & Safety requirements when operating machinery
• Help maintain 6S standards in the immediate work area and other areas as needed
• Follow ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and applicable safety certification requirements
• Maintain a 40-hour workweek and work overtime as needed
• Maintain regular attendance according to the assigned schedule
• Follow directions and perform other job-related duties as assigned
• Work independently while supporting other Tool & Die Makers and Manufacturing Engineers as needed

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum of 4 years of Tool & Die Maker experience
• Technical/vocational certification in Tool & Die, Manufacturing Technology, Machining, or a related field is preferred
• CAM software experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of standard shop mathematics
• Knowledge of metal-cutting feeds and speeds
• Understanding of threading terminology
• Ability to calculate angles for setting sine bars
• Understanding of grinding principles and procedures
• Ability to read and interpret technical prints, sketches, design models, and verbal descriptions
• Strong manual dexterity and ability to use hand tools
• Knowledge of metal and other material properties
• Experience with precision measurement tools
• EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) experience preferred
• Ability to work independently and stay self-motivated

Work Environment

• Typical office/factory environment
• Possible exposure to heat in production areas
• Exposure to machine noise; hearing protection required
• Exposure to electrical and mechanical moving parts
• Exposure to sparks, chips, and dust; eye protection required
• Exposure to heavy equipment and components; safety-toed shoes required

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.
• Must be able to perform repetitive movements including walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, and pulling
• Must be able to stand for extended periods
• Must have the ability to maintain clear vision and focus during fast-paced, repetitive operations
