This position maintains a sterile environment, anticipates the needs of the surgical team, and ensures patient safety. The Surgical Technologist reports to the OR Charge RN and works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff.RESPONSIBILITIESPrepares Operating RoomSets up surgical instruments and equipment.Ensures the operating room is sterile and ready for procedures.Verifies the functionality of surgical equipment.Assists During Surgical ProceduresPasses instruments and supplies to the surgeon during procedures.Anticipates the needs of the surgical team.Maintains a sterile field throughout the surgery.Provides Direct Patient CareAssists with patient positioning and draping.Monitors patients' vital signs during surgery.Provides post-operative care as needed.Maintains Sterility and Infection ControlFollows strict infection control protocols.Sterilizes instruments and equipment after use.Ensures compliance with regulatory standards.Documents and ReportsMaintains accurate records of surgical procedures.Reports any issues or concerns to the Operating Room Supervisor.Ensures all documentation meets regulatory and organizational standards.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma/GEDAt least 1 year(s) of experience in surgical technology.Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ambulatory surgery center or similar healthcare setting.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.SALARY RANGE$27.00/hr + depending on qualificationsWORKING ENVIRONMENT/EQUIPMENTStandard office equipmentRepetitive use of a keyboardMay be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, hazardous medications and disoriented or combative patients, or others.Required MaterialsResume/CV3 work references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisorLetter of interestImportant for applicants who are NOT current university employees or contingent workers: You will be prompted to submit your resume the first time you apply, then you will be provided an option to upload a new Resume for subsequent applications.
