Job Opportunity – Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM), 36 or 48 hours per week. Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks available. Every other weekend required. Patient ratio 1:5-6.

Highlights:

• Acute care medical-surgical and telemetry unit with 41 beds serving adult and geriatric populations
• Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Experience with critical skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, heparin and insulin drips, wound care, and blood product administration
• 24 hours of paid orientation with hospital-wide onboarding during week one
• Floating required as needed within skillset to similar units; includes inpatient boarding in the emergency department
• Isolation area for COVID patients; multi-level care environment with stepdown capabilities

Requirements:

• Active North Carolina or Compact RN license
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent medical-surgical/telemetry nursing experience
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted
• Proficiency with Pyxis medication systems and SBAR communication
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• All compliance testing must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing

Additional Information:

• Contract staff are required to attend unit team meetings (clocked time, may occur outside regular shifts)
• Contract staff will be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters
• Pre-start online modules required (8-10 hours, non-billable, must use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge)
• Requested time off limited to 7 days maximum; no RTO allowed during first week or major holidays; must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Navy scrubs required
