Senior Paving Construction Inspector

Job Description WSP is one of the Globe's leading engineering firms, helping New England clients and communities improve their infrastructure while developing professional careers in construction management and inspection. WSP is currently seeking a Senior Paving Construction Inspector for urban and rural pavement rehabilitation or preservation projects valued between $1–$25 million, based in Portland, Augusta or Eliot, ME, or Merrimack, NH. Responsibilities The inspector will oversee asphalt shimming, milling, reclaiming, filling, compacting, drainage improvements, striping and other incidental items. They will report to the Resident Engineer and may act as the engineer’s representative as required. Your Impact Interfacing with contractors and attending meetings. Mentoring or supervising other inspectors on behalf of the resident engineer or project manager. Completing daily reports, measuring and calculating unit price quantities. Coordinating independent material sampling and testing. Monitoring maintenance of traffic. Taking and compiling photographs for tracking daily progress. Required Qualifications High School Diploma 9 years applicable experience Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, design plans and specifications. Valid driver's license. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Preferred Qualifications Associate of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. NETTCP HMA certifications, or ability to attain within 3 months of hiring. Average proficiency with MS Word Suite. Hands‑on experience with construction management software such as Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD or similar systems; knowledge of Bluebeam. Demonstrated supervisory skills. Any combination of college education, professional licenses, certifications and experience will be considered.
