Registered Nurse RN University Freestanding ER PRN

Location: HCA Florida University Freestanding ER (5234 E Fowler Avenue, Temple Terrace, FL 33617). Job Summary Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care in the emergency department, collaborating with medical providers and interdisciplinary team members. The RN uses established nursing models to advocate for patients and families while aligning with the organization’s vision and mission. Key Responsibilities Assess patient pain regularly and promote effective pain management, including reassessments after interventions. Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider and document care promptly and thoroughly. Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs to resolve them proactively. Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow‑up measures, translating complex terminology into clear understanding. Educate patients and families on non‑medicinal follow‑up such as diet, exercise, disease prevention and lifestyle changes, and prepare them for future self‑management. Qualifications Licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse or with an appropriate compact license; active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire. Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred. Minimum of one year ER RN experience required for PRN status. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification required within 6 months of hire. Current Critical Pedagogy Instruction (CPI) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certifications required within 6 months of hire. Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required within 6 months of hire. Critical thinking, service excellence, strong interpersonal communication, ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and PC skills.
