Director of Operations

The opportunity TXM Hospitals is seeking a Director of Operations to lead hospital and surgical-services operations and turn organizational priorities into measurable results. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced healthcare operator who can take ownership, work autonomously within appropriate decision boundaries, make financially sound business decisions, and lead important projects through verified completion. The right candidate will understand licensed healthcare-facility operations, have meaningful experience with surgery or perioperative services, and be open to using AI and automation responsibly to improve how work gets done. What you will own - Lead day-to-day operations with clear priorities, accountable owners, timely decisions, and early escalation of material risks. - Support effective surgical-services operations, including operational readiness, scheduling coordination, staffing dependencies, supplies and equipment, throughput, and cross-functional follow-through. - Partner with finance and functional leaders on budgets, P&Ls and financial statements, forecasts, operating results, variances, controls, revenue-cycle indicators, and resource decisions. - Lead important projects from definition through verified completion using clear scope, plans, owners, milestones, budgets, dependencies, risks, and change controls. - Establish a practical management cadence for operating results, projects, decisions, risks, and follow-through. - Lead, coach, and delegate through managers and subject-matter owners; address missed commitments early and constructively. - Coordinate outside partners and vendors when they are part of an operational responsibility or project. - Build concise, decision-ready reporting for executive leadership. - Identify practical uses for AI, automation, analytics, and workflow technology while maintaining privacy, security, human review, and professional accountability. - Operate effectively within a licensed healthcare environment while respecting clinical, credentialing, legal, compliance, and regulatory decision boundaries. Required qualifications - Seven or more years of progressively responsible operations experience, including meaningful leadership responsibility and ownership of cross-functional results. - Operations experience in a licensed or regulated healthcare facility, such as a physician practice, ambulatory surgery center, or hospital. - Demonstrated finance and accounting background through education, training, or hands-on responsibility for budgets, P&Ls or financial statements, forecasts, variance analysis, controls, revenue-cycle economics, and financially informed operating decisions. - Strong project-management skill demonstrated through successful delivery of important projects with defined scope, plans, owners, dependencies, budgets, risks, deadlines, communication, and completion evidence. - Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, take ownership of ambiguous problems, make sound decisions, and escalate appropriately. - Experience leading managers or accountable cross-functional teams through delegation, coaching, and performance recovery. - Strong written and verbal communication, including concise recommendations to executive leadership. - Ability to work primarily on-site in Manor, Texas, and travel between TXM locations as needed. - Genuine openness to learning and responsibly applying AI, automation, analytics, and workflow technology. Strongly preferred - Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or a comparable recognized project-management certification. Candidates without certification should demonstrate equivalent advanced project-management skill and results. - Direct operational experience in an ambulatory surgery center, hospital surgical department, perioperative service line, or organization with meaningful surgical volume. - Familiarity with surgical scheduling, staffing dependencies, supplies or implants, room utilization, throughput, revenue-cycle considerations, and surgeon coordination. - Experience opening, integrating, or scaling a healthcare facility, service line, or operating platform. - Experience implementing AI, automation, analytics, or workflow tools with appropriate controls and measurable results. - Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, healthcare administration, operations, or a related field; an advanced degree or equivalent experience is welcome. What success looks like During the first year, the Director of Operations will be expected to: - Improve operational accountability and ensure important work reaches verified completion. - Strengthen financial visibility, budget ownership, variance follow-through, and management reporting. - Deliver critical projects with disciplined planning, risk management, and measurable results. - Improve surgical-services and facility operations by clarifying ownership and removing avoidable delays. - Build a management rhythm in which problems surface early and teams know what they own. - Identify and help implement useful, controlled AI or automation improvements with measurable time, quality, or control benefits.
