Job Summary
The Assistant Director for Student Accounts supports the administration and daily functions within the Office of Student Accounts, with a primary focus on Banner Student Accounts , billing, payments, and regulatory processes. The entry-level leadership role will assist with core operations, system support, and provide critical customer service.This position reports to the Director of Student Accounts and will provide key back-up support to the Director. Job Summary
The Assistant Director for Student Accounts supports the administration and daily functions within the Office of Student Accounts, with a primary focus on Banner Student Accounts , billing, payments, and regulatory processes. The entry-level leadership role will assist with core operations, system support, and provide critical customer service.This position reports to the Director of Student Accounts and will provide key back-up support to the Director. Core Duties
- Support administration of the Banner Student Accounts module, including basic fee setup, coding, testing, and data review.
- Oversee processes related to student billing, payment posting, refunds, and account reconciliation; including running processes related to billing cycles and student registration.
- Monitor daily cashiering activity and support balancing and feed processes to Banner Finance.
- Collaborate with Financial Aid, Registrar, Admissions, and IT on account issues and process coordination.
- Assist with 1098-T tax statements and related reporting.
- Support Title IV disbursements and refunds in alignment with regulatory guidelines.
- Generate A/R aging, student account, and reconciliation reports.
- Assist Director with maintaining accurate records and ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Complete research for the Director of Student Accounts as needed, making technology and process improvement recommendations based on analysis and research.
- Provide customer service and thorough communication on a variety of topics and issues related to Student Accounts to University students, staff, parents, and community members.
- Respond to inquiries through in-person and various communication methods including phone and email. Handle a variety of difficult customer situations and disputes while using sensitivity, diplomacy, and patience.
- Maintain accurate records of student financial activity and ensure data integrity across systems.
- May supervise staff and or student employees as needed. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring processes, setting of expectations, training and development, performance management, and disciplinary processes including termination of employment.

- Required: Bachelor's degree.
- Required: Three or more years of professional experience in accounts receivable, student accounts, or related financial operations.
- Required: Experience with financial systems, ERPs, and/or student account systems.
- Preferred: Experience in Higher Education and ideally with Ellucian Banner enterprise system.
- Or a combination of equivalent education and/or experience.

- Basic understanding of student billing, receivables, and cash handling.
- Ability to learn regulations, policies, and enterprise system processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong skills in analytical problem solving and ability to prioritize and manage issues and tasks.
- Effectiveness with numerical problem solving (including arithmetic and algebra); ability to review and analyze simple to more complex numerical information.
- Excellent customer service skills and strong communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively handle highly-sensitive and personal information with sound judgment, tact, and discretion and in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
- Strong orientation towards taking ownership of projects and assignments and being proactive with projects, assignments, and making process improvements.
