Sr. IT Project Manager

The Sr. IT Project Manager is responsible for leading teams to deliver complex technology projects by utilizing project management best practices in Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies. This role ensures schedules, financials, scope, and performance requirements of the project are met. It requires leadership with all areas of the IT organization, software and hardware vendors, functional business groups, as well as various management levels and senior management. It includes management of issues, risks, and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. In addition, this role contributes to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Lead large, complex, cross-functional technology projects that involve multiple lines of business.
• Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously.
• Manage scope, schedule, and project/program budget to ensure the project(s) directly support the achievement of strategic objectives as defined in the business case.
• Manages the integration of vendor tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables where applicable.
• Be accountable for organizational change management with your key stakeholders.
• Identify and report on project success criteria results, metrics, test, and deployment management activities.
• Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence.
• Develop and foster a trusted advisor relationship with your sponsors and stakeholders.
• Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization.
• Prepare estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project.
• Develop / execute communication strategy with all levels of project team, including delivering effective executive level communication.
• Communicate on project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks, and issues, changes (scope, schedule, budget, quality) across key stakeholders.
• Understand interdependencies between technology, operations, and business needs.
• Pro-actively manage project and program risks to mitigate impact before they become an issue.
• Monitor, track, and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies, and critical path deliverables.
• Work with project and business leadership to identify needed project resources and ensure availability and allocation.
• May manage, lead, and support the development of a small team of contract Project Managers.

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years as a project or program manager in an IT environment.
• Experience managing projects involving GxP validation/qualification of systems or relevant experience working at a biotechnology/pharmaceutical company.
• A proven history of delivering multiple small to large size technology projects.
• Deep understanding of Waterfall and Agile methodologies and the ability to efficiently apply the appropriate method as the situation demands.
• Budget and vendor management experience, including but not limited to, leading through RFP initiatives, negotiations, and professional service engagements.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex development tasks to non-technical resources and stakeholders.
• Strong written and oral presentation and communication skills.
• Exceptional planning, coordination, and analytical skills.
• Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong working knowledge of various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Microsoft Project and SmartSheet.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer-or business-related discipline or equivalent job experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Scrum Master and / or Project Management Professional certifications a plus.
