Phlebotomist III - Floater

Pay Range: $23.86hr - $25.57hr


Job Overview:


The Patient Services Representative III-Floater (PSR III) represents the organization to patients seeking healthcare insights and routine service. The candidate will draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. The candidate will have direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The candidate will demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accurate patient information. The candidate may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as business needs dictate. Under the direction of the area supervisor, the candidate will perform daily activities accurately and on time while maintaining a safe and professional environment. The candidate will perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established procedures. Duties include verifying patient demographic information, confirming initials and signatures post-venipuncture to verify tubes are labeled correctly in the patient's presence, maintaining required documentation, and promoting a positive image to patients and the public.

• Excellent phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Committed to all policies and procedures including standard dress code, employee health and safety, and operational guiding principles.
• Must be able to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record.
• Travel and flexible hours required to work at multiple locations and cover patient service centers or in-office locations with minimal notice.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Must demonstrate superior customer focus, with the ability to communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors, and patients, accelerate and embrace change, and understand organizational operations.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical training, such as medical assistant or paramedic training, is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred, and required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience:

• 3+ years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in a patient service center environment is preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment is preferred.
• Keyboard and data entry experience required.
