Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to lead the delivery of complex water and wastewater projects from concept through to construction and completion. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise across the full project lifecycle, supporting the development of robust, sustainable and cost-effective solutions for water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations, pipelines, networks, reservoirs and associated infrastructure. You will work closely with clients, contractors, regulators and multidisciplinary project teams to ensure that designs meet technical, environmental, quality and health and safety requirements.


Key responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing feasibility studies, calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings and tender documentation; developing hydraulic, process and infrastructure designs; managing design activities and technical deliverables; and providing guidance to engineers and technicians. You will contribute to project planning, budget management, risk assessment and programme control, while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, resilience and sustainability. The role will also involve attending site visits and progress meetings, reviewing construction information, responding to technical queries, supporting commissioning activities and ensuring that projects are delivered in accordance with relevant standards, legislation and industry best practice.


You will be a professionally qualified engineer, or working towards professional registration, with significant experience in the water or wastewater sector and a strong understanding of relevant design principles, regulations and technical standards. Experience using hydraulic modelling, design and project management software would be advantageous, as would a track record of delivering multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, together with the ability to manage competing priorities, solve complex problems and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. A proactive approach, commercial awareness and a commitment to technical excellence, safety and sustainable engineering are also required. This position may involve occasional travel to project sites and client offices.
