Job Description Senior Advanced Manufacturing (Tooling) Engineer United States - MI - Novi Main Responsibilities, Requirements, and Competencies The candidate will provide direct input to the Simultaneous Development Team (SDT) by: Providing manufacturing feasibility assessments for product design, engineering changes, scope changes, and quality concerns. Project managing the procurement and acceptance of required equipment & tooling. Facilitating the implementation of production equipment/tooling into the manufacturing facility and providing necessary technical training. Completing Process FMEA and managing RPN risks. Additional Responsibilities: Assessing the product, process, equipment, and tooling strategies for potential ergonomic concerns and managing action items to resolve them. Supporting customer part needs through pilot, testing, run‑at‑rate, and internal process sign‑offs. Creating and supporting continuous improvement projects. Specific Requirements Required Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree. Science Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering, Plastics or Engineering Technology (BSME, BSMET, or similar). Equivalent work experience may also be considered for certain positions. Required Qualifications (Experience Level, Skills, Knowledge) 5‑9 Minimum Years of Experience. 3+ years in manufacturing engineering, advanced manufacturing, process engineering, tooling, or similar. Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants that may require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces. Preferred Qualifications (Experience Level, Skills, Knowledge) Experience in Automotive/Manufacturing (Tier One Automotive interiors experience preferred, not required). Strong communication, interpersonal, and ability to inspire individuals to improve performance. Mechanical aptitude and analytical problem‑solving. Work flow, line balance and takt time. Experience with AutoCAD. DOE and data‑driven studies experience. Six Sigma, Lean, Continuous Improvement training or experience. Technical and project management skills. Familiar with entire product life cycle including development, launch and production. Ability to work with and improve documented manufacturing standards. Use Hands/Fingers (Operate computer, printer, phone): Frequently. Often exposed to distracting sounds and noisy conditions. Personal protective equipment is required. Must follow all rules while visiting manufacturing plants.
