Tax Manager

We are looking for a Tax Manager to support premium tax and municipal tax activities within a Property and Casualty Insurance firm on a remote basis. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can manage premium tax reporting, payment activity, reconciliations, and financial analysis with a high degree of accuracy. The role requires strong knowledge of statutory accounting and property and casualty insurance operations, along with the ability to work independently while contributing to ongoing departmental priorities.Responsibilities:• Support day-to-day tax operations across the department and provide dependable execution of recurring compliance and reporting activities.• Examine premium tax filings, projected liabilities, and payment records to help ensure timely and accurate submissions.• Coordinate the processing and proper distribution of state assessments and related remittances.• Prepare accounting entries tied to tax activity and complete reconciliations to confirm balances are properly recorded.• Investigate fluctuations in financial results and explain notable variances affecting tax-related accounts.• Perform quarterly balance sheet reconciliations and calculate accruals for premium taxes, surcharges, and assessments.• Maintain an organized tracker for filings, payments, deadlines, and outstanding items to support consistent follow-through.• Contribute to ad hoc assignments and improvement initiatives that strengthen tax and finance processes.
