Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of repair and maintenance duties to ensure that buildings, equipment, and systems are operating efficiently and safely. This role involves troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and responding to maintenance requests in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Inspect and maintain mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
2. Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines and equipment
3. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them
4. Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools
5. Maintain and monitor building systems including HVAC, lighting, and fire safety
6. Respond promptly to emergency repair requests
7. Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs
8. Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with all regulations
9. Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs
10. Keep tools and maintenance equipment in good working condition

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent (technical school or certification preferred)
2. Proven experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar role
3. Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems
4. Ability to read technical manuals and blueprints
5. Skilled in the use of hand, power tools, and preferably experience in carpentry
6. Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures
7. Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to work in various conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

1. HVAC certification, electrical license, or related certifications
2. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
3. Bilingual (optional, depending on workplace)

Work Environment:

1. Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, heat, cold, and noise
2. May require standing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and climbing ladders
3. Work may be performed indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
