Patient Referral Specialist

The Patient Referral Specialist is responsible for accurately and timely verifying insurance and benefits for referral orders for continuation of treatment, such as specialty services, procedures, or diagnostic testing. The Specialist acts as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to facilitate the referral process and ensure optimal patient care. Hourly Pay Rate: $18.24 - $26.90 Qualifications Education: Requires a high school diploma or GED. Experience: Requires at least one (1) year of experience working directly with insurance providers or with patient referral processing, demonstrating an understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Prefer prior healthcare or clinic patient registrations and/or scheduling experience. Specialized Training: Prefer successful completion of the medical assistant program. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must possess good verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills, including basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation knowledge. Requires basic math, data entry, and keyboarding skills. Must be able to properly use a multi-line phone with accessories or proficient in using multi-line phone systems. The ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute is desired. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are strongly preferred. Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
