Director of Information Technology & Digital Transformation

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, business-focused Director of Information Technology to oversee technology operations while leading the strategic implementation of technologies that improve business performance, operational efficiency, and organizational growth. This individual will serve as both the company’s senior technology advisor and a catalyst for technology-enabled process improvement across all business units.

Reporting jointly to the President and Chief Financial Officer, this position does not include direct reports but carries full responsibility for managing external technology partners, including the Managed Service Provider (MSP), telecommunications vendors, and contract software developers. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, technical expertise, vendor management capability, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Leadership and Strategy

• Serve as the primary technology advisor to executive leadership.
\n
• Develop, maintain, and communicate a technology roadmap aligned with operational priorities, business goals, and growth initiatives.
\n
• Partner with business unit leaders to identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and technology-enabled productivity gains.
\n
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI tools and other digital solutions, that can improve efficiency, profitability, and decision-making.
\n
• Translate organizational needs into scalable, cost-effective technology solutions.
\n

Infrastructure and Systems Oversight

\n
• Oversee all IT infrastructure, including servers (physical and virtual), networks, endpoints, and business systems.
\n
• Ensure high availability and performance of mission-critical systems, including Microsoft 365, Active Directory, ERP, and network services.
\n
• Maintain sufficient technical depth to evaluate and validate vendor recommendations.
\n

Vendor and Service Management

\n
• Lead and manage all IT vendors, including MSP, telecom, hardware, software, and cybersecurity providers.
\n
• Monitor service levels, manage escalations, and ensure accountability for performance and outcomes.
\n
• Review contracts, renewals, and technology proposals to ensure alignment with business needs.
\n

Cybersecurity and Risk Management

\n
• Oversee cybersecurity practices in coordination with the MSP, including MFA, endpoint protection, email security, and backup systems.
\n
• Coordinate incident response and user security awareness initiatives.
\n
• Support audit, compliance, and risk mitigation efforts.
\n

ERP and Business Applications

\n
• Act as the IT owner for the company’s custom ERP system (Microsoft Access front-end, SQL back-end).
\n
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external developers to prioritize enhancements, resolve issues, and support operations.
\n
• Ensure business-critical applications remain secure, stable, and effective.
\n

End-User Support and Operations

\n
• Provide hands-on technical support as needed across desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
\n
• Oversee help desk operations through the MSP, including ticket management and escalation.
\n
• Manage onboarding and offboarding processes and user access controls.
\n

Budgeting, Procurement, and Projects

\n
• Develop and manage IT budgets, including operating and capital expenditures.
\n
• Oversee procurement, licensing, and asset lifecycle management.
\n
• Lead IT projects, modernization initiatives, system upgrades, and continuous improvement efforts.
\n
• Drive user adoption of new technologies and ensure successful implementation across the organization.
\n

Qualifications

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
\n
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive, hands-on IT experience, preferably in a multi-location environment.
\n
• Strong technical knowledge of networking, Windows Server/virtualization (Hyper-V preferred), Microsoft 365, and Active Directory.
\n
• Demonstrated experience managing MSPs and third-party vendors.
\n
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and best practices.
\n
• Experience supporting ERP or database-driven business systems, preferably Access/SQL.
\n
• Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
\n
• Ability to respond to after-hours incidents as needed.
\n

Strongly Preferred

\n
• Demonstrated success leading IT change initiatives that improved business operations, efficiency, or profitability.
\n
• Experience implementing operational use of Copilot and/or agentic AI tools.
\n
• Experience with Power Platform, workflow automation, BI dashboards, ERP integrations, or similar IT-enabled process improvement initiatives.
\n
• Background in technology modernization, digital transformation, or business systems improvement.
\n

Work Environment

\n
• On-site role based in Nashville, Tennessee.
\n
• Typical schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (with fluctuations based on business needs).
\n
• Occasional after-hours support required for critical incidents.
\n
• Periodic travel between company locations.
\n
