Mammographer – Breast Health Network – Edmond Department: BHN-Edmond Job Description The Mammographer II is an experienced professional who provides specialized breast imaging services to OU Health patients to aid providers in the diagnosis, care, treatment, and surveillance of breast conditions. The role is performed in outpatient settings across OU Health locations and focuses on delivering exceptional patient care while advancing expertise in mammography. Responsibilities Utilize advanced skill set and knowledge to perform diagnostic imaging on patients as ordered by a care provider under limited supervision. Ensure testing is performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient‑centric care. Prepare patients for procedures and review clinical history to align with provider‑ordered tests. Respond to inquiries from patients and family members, providing clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines. Collaborate with team members across OU Health, including providers, to provide exceptional patient care. Utilize a variety of highly specialized mammography equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic imaging in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines. Conduct post‑testing quality reviews without assistance to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented, and align with departmental and accreditation standards. Transfer images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enter technical data/findings, and prepare the study for reporting by physician. Perform quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting, and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions and regulatory guidelines. Ensure that the technical quality of performed testing meets established protocols and applicable accreditation standards. Serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members. Assist with onboarding of new team members. Support OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program. Assist with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as assigned. Demonstrate advanced knowledge by preparing and presenting in‑service trainings as requested by leadership. Ensure timely patient care by providing adequate time slots for daily appointments and working at a pace that supports the daily schedule. Support the team by building skill sets to perform additional testing across the department such as QC, general diagnostic imaging, and/or diagnostic procedures. May contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and quality assurance methods. Support inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Associate's Degree from an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARDMS, ARRT, and/or CCI. Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a Mammographer. License/Certification: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire; ARRT(RT)(M) required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Solid knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, mammography principles, and radiologic terminology. Apply core‑level primary specialty theory and techniques to independently perform mammography exams, complete post‑processing and image analysis, and accurately annotate study data and procedure documentation with minimal guidance. Prioritize and independently complete clinical and non‑clinical work assignments with limited direction. Communicate effectively through verbal and written means to convey accurate, timely information and collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members. Adjust priorities and manage workload in changing environments, multitasking while remaining calm in stressful situations. Benefits Sign‑on bonus up to $10,000 for qualified individuals.
