Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students in special education! A contract position is available for an Orthopedic Impairment Assistant, working closely with an OI Specialist. This is a full-time, onsite, itinerant role, serving students who utilize walkers, wheelchairs, and a variety of assistive equipment. The position runs from August 21, 2025, through June 4, 2026, providing a stable and impactful engagement throughout the school year.
Bring your dedication and expertise to help foster student independence and enable them to thrive. You will be instrumental in both monitoring and training on essential equipment, ensuring safety and access across educational environments.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- CPI Certification (required)
- Training with assistive technology and mobility devices (required)
- CNA or medical training (preferred)
- Administrative experience in an educational setting (strongly preferred)
- Experience working in California schools (preferred)
- Bilingual in Spanish (required)
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the OI Specialist to monitor students using mobility devices
- Assist with the use and routine training of wheelchairs, walkers, and other adaptive equipment
- Ensure proper documentation and communication with educational staff regarding student needs and progress
- Support students’ safe access and participation within various school settings
- Provide hands-on assistance as needed for transfers, positioning, and daily mobility
- Travel between school locations as part of an itinerant assignment
