Senior Technical Accountant

ABOUT THE ROLE The Senior Technical Accountant supports the research, documentation, and implementation of complex accounting matters under U.S. GAAP and IFRS. The role prepares technical accounting analyses and financial reporting support for significant transactions, new accounting standards, and complex organizational and partnership structures. This position partners cross-functionally, works directly with external auditors and third-party accounting advisors, and helps translate technical conclusions into clear accounting and reporting outcomes. WHAT YOU'LL DO Research complex accounting matters under U.S. GAAP and IFRS and develop well-supported accounting conclusions. Prepare technical accounting memoranda, white papers, position papers, and supporting analyses for review by the Senior Technical Accounting Manager. Analyze significant and non-routine transactions, including tax equity structures, acquisitions and dispositions, debt arrangements, derivatives and hedging activities, revenue arrangements, leases, asset retirement obligations, and other complex contracts. Review executed agreements and transaction documents to identify accounting and financial reporting implications, key terms, and required supporting documentation. Support the implementation of approved technical accounting conclusions by developing accounting instructions, reviewing related entries or schedules, and confirming consistent application across applicable entities. Monitor new accounting pronouncements and regulatory developments, assess potential applicability, and assist with implementation plans, policy updates, and related communications. Prepare and review financial statement disclosures, reporting schedules, rollforwards, and technical support for consolidated reporting under U.S. GAAP and IFRS. Maintain and enhance accounting policies, technical guidance, templates, and other documentation used to support consistent accounting and financial reporting practices. Coordinate with external auditors and third-party accounting firms by preparing clear supporting documentation, responding to technical questions, and tracking open items through resolution. Partner with Finance, Project Finance, Tax, Legal, Treasury, Operations, and parent-company accounting teams to gather facts, evaluate accounting implications, and communicate conclusions. Support internal controls and SOX compliance related to technical accounting, complex transactions, and financial reporting; identify opportunities to strengthen documentation and processes. Provide technical accounting guidance to accounting team members and assist with training on new standards, policies, and complex transactions. Manage assigned technical accounting and reporting projects with strong attention to accuracy, deadlines, and deliverable quality. Collaborate and strengthen partnerships with teams and departments integral to the accounting and reporting function. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent years of experience. Experience: Minimum of 4 years progressive accounting experience, including technical accounting. Industry knowledge or public accounting experience preferred. Licensure/Certification: Certified Public Accountant Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP; working knowledge of IFRS and experience researching and applying authoritative accounting guidance. Skills/Attributes: Ability to convert complex fact patterns and accounting literature into clear, concise, and well-supported written conclusions. Strong judgment, attention to detail, and ability to identify accounting and reporting implications within complex contracts and transaction structures. Ability to work effectively across functions and communicate technical matters to both accounting and non-accounting stakeholders. Exceptional organizational skills and time management.
