Position Summary

My client is seeking a System Administrator to support and maintain their IT infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments. You will assist in the day to day administration of network devices, virtual servers, cloud platforms, and security systems. This role is an excellent fit for someone with hands on experience in Palo Alto firewalls, VMware, Cisco networking, Splunk, Azure or AWS, and PCI compliance. You will collaborate closely with senior IT staff and gain valuable technical expertise in a dynamic hybrid environment.

Key Responsibilities as the System Administrator

• Configure, monitor, and maintain Palo Alto firewalls and security policies

• Support VMware vSphere and ESXi virtual environments including provisioning and maintenance

• Perform routine administration of Cisco switches and routers including port configurations and troubleshooting

• Maintain Splunk dashboards and alerts for system health and log monitoring

• Provide administration and support for cloud infrastructure in Azure or AWS

• Assist with infrastructure and system changes aligned with PCI DSS requirements and related documentation

• Monitor system performance and respond to service outages and incidents

• Participate in patching, updates, backups, and inventory management

• Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures

• Collaborate with senior team members to improve infrastructure reliability, security, and performance

Qualifications for the System Administrator

• 5 years of experience in system or network administration

• Hands on knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls, VMware, and Cisco network devices

• Familiarity with Splunk or other log monitoring tools

• Experience with Azure or AWS cloud platforms and an interest in cloud operations

• Understanding of PCI DSS security principles and willingness to support compliance initiatives

• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to follow structured procedures

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred Certifications (a plus)

• CompTIA Network+ or Security+

• Palo Alto Networks PCCSA or PCNSA

• VMware VCTA or VCP

• Cisco CCNA

• Microsoft Azure Fundamentals or AWS Cloud Practitioner
