As a leading children's health system experiencing steady growth, we're excited to expand our team with exceptional team members who share our vision of transforming children's health and well-being as one team.Job DescriptionThe Pharmacy Technician Non-Sterile Compounding is responsible for assisting Pharmacists in the dispensing and distribution of compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) and non-sterile drug products. Under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist and following established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and USP guidelines prepares non-sterile drug products in order to ensure medications are ready and available for administration to the patient. Maintains accurate records utilizing established policies and procedures. If not already experienced in this area, Pharmacy Technicians at this level are expected to train and be fully proficient in non-sterile compounding within six (6) months of start date in the job.ResponsibilitiesNon-Sterile Compounding: Under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist and following established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and USP guidelines, prepares non-sterile drug products.Prepares of all types of pharmaceuticals: hazardous and non-hazardous, controlled and non-controlled, with regards to non-sterile preparations onlyMaintain accurate records of products prepared according to established documentation guidelinesFollows established procedures for appropriate and accurate documentation in electronic health record or similar.Maintain clean and safe environment for drug manipulationAssist Pharmacist in filling patient specific medication orders and prescriptions by pulling items and ensuring medication is ready for deliveryAccurately document work performed throughout the compounding and/or medication delivery process in various electronic and automated systems including but not limited to: EPIC, DoseEdge, Omnicell.Distributes compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) and non-sterile drug products as specified by the Pharmacist to designated areas on the patient floors.Maintain and store inventory of pharmaceuticals and supplies within the pharmacy or other assigned areas under proper storage conditions and/or security.Receives and scans incoming medication orders from Wholesalers and Supply Chain. Appropriately and handles paperwork for each order.Restock medications and suppliesRotate stock within storage areas to promote the use of first expiring medications to prevent drug shortages and mitigate potential for patient harm.Discard expired drugs in accordance with established department proceduresAccurately document pertinent information regarding medications throughout day-to-day operations including but not limited to physical count, expiration dating, and beyond use dating if applicableKeep accurate inventory and communicate with Pharmacy purchasing teamAssist pharmacy manager(s) in organization of controlled substance records including assistance in investigations regarding controlled substances when required.Accurately handle and execute required documentation of controlled substances according to federal and state regulations, and Connecticut Children's standard operating proceduresMaintains other pertinent operational records not listed as required by department / state / federal policies and/or guidelinesWhen working in the main pharmacy, assists customers by answering incoming calls and greeting customers at the Pharmacy window.Retrieves orders for pickup.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation and/or Experience Required:Required: High School Diploma, GED, or a higher level of education that would require the completion of high school.Education and/or Experience Preferred:Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare related field.Some experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred but not required.License and/or Certification Required:State of Connecticut Pharmacy Technician license.License and/or Certification Preferred:PTCBKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesUnderstanding of governing policies (USP <795> , <797> , and <800>) of non-sterile drug preparationSolid understanding of technician responsibilities in electronic health record (EPIC)Demonstrate strong understanding of various electronic and automated systems to accurately document work performed throughout the compounding process and/or the medication delivery process.Demonstrated ability to use mathematical methods and functions required for pharmaceutical preparation.Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite specifically MS word and ExcelStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with patients and patient support membersAble to prioritize work and adapt to new workflows and processesAble to work as part of a teamJob InfoJob Identification 5349Job Category Clinical TechnicalPosting Date 07/09/2026, 07:10 PMJob Shift VariesLocations 282 Washington Street, Hartford, CT, 06106, US (On-site)Scheduled Days and Hours Every other weekend (days, evenings) and holiday team
