Job Description The role of Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. You will also provide center‑level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS) and assist in medical emergencies as per SOPs. Responsibilities Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE). Evaluate donor reactions, follow SOPs for medical emergencies, and coordinate donor transport to emergency care facilities as needed. Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance concerning donor safety and eligibility. Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees. Manage employee incidents and refer to occupational health or emergency response as required; consult EHS guidance for employee incidents. Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate education from a recognized nursing program with state licensure. Currently licensed or certified as an EMT‑Paramedic in the state of responsibility assignment. Current CPR and AED certification. Meet state requirements for basic IV therapy. Complete FDA‑approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. At least two years of clinical or hospital setting experience. Compensation & Benefits U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $25.60 – $35.20 The estimated hourly wage range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual wage offered may depend on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications or licenses, and location, and will comply with state or local minimum wage requirements.
