About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted. License: Current and active nursing license required. Certifications: BCLS required. Must-Have: - Med/Surg experience. - Telemetry-remote monitoring experience. - Ability to interpret dysrhythmias. - IV insulin protocols knowledge. - Colostomy care and feeding tube management skills. - Pre and post hemodialysis management experience. - Blood product administration skills. - Central line blood draw and peripheral line care/management experience. - Phlebotomy skills. - PICC line management experience. - Skills in starting IVs and managing chest tubes. - Competency with CPAP/BiPAP and high flow nasal cannula. - Proficiency in non-invasive airway management and wound care. - Knowledge of isolation precautions. Description: RTO after booking is not permitted. Call-offs or additional RTO may result in a cancellation. Guaranteed hours are not specified. Target patient ratios are 1:5-6. Contract staff may be assigned to a storm or hurricane team. Contract staff may be required to report to work during emergency events. Weekly patient diagnoses include dementia, diabetes, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, and hip fracture. The unit has an area for COVID patients and provides multi-level care. The patient age groups served include adults and geriatrics. Daily census for the unit is around 39 patients. Interdisciplinary support is available, including IV teams and respiratory services. All staff must be willing to float to different units as needed.
