Cashier Job Description

Operates a cash register, POS device (or equivalent), receives payments of cash and charges from customers or employees for goods or services, making change and issuing receipts or tickets to customers.

Basic Responsibilities:

• Receives payment from customers.
• Records, verifies and reconciles payments received against receipts
• Always maintain proper security of cash.
• May assist in locating, reconciling and verifying the accuracy of transactions and operating equipment with peripheral electronic data processing.
• Understands and follows company, contract and client cash handling policies and procedures.
• May also be required to prepare for service before the meal and clean the dining room after the meal (wiping tables, vacuuming the floor, cleaning chairs, ensuring the acceptable appearance of the dining area).
• May set up and stock the beverage area or other assigned areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management or designated personnel.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of food service or customer service with cash handling experience.
• Apply basic mathematical skills appropriate for the position.
• Always provides the highest quality of service to customers.
• Available to work any schedule during hours of operation.
• Authorization for a background check.
• Must provide proof of identity and U.S. work authorization

Physical Demands:

• Lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
• Periods of standing, walking (excluding breaks and lunch periods).
• Some bending, carrying or lifting supplies and equipment.
