Registered Nurse (RN)
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join a fast-paced trauma, ortho, and surgical unit. This position is ideal for candidates with demonstrated expertise in Level 1 trauma care and a strong background in telemedicine.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional care to a diverse patient population including post-operative transplant patients and individuals with traumatic injuries.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Perform clinical skills including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes with a strong emphasis on maintaining sterile fields.
- Participate in educational training related to lifts, restraints, and wound care protocols.
- Comply with established hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of telemetry experience required.
- Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam with two attempts; failure may result in a 6-month do-not-use status with certain regions.
- Comfortable with floating to medical-surgical and telemetry units as needed.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to adhere to grooming standards including natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven.
Shift Information
This position involves 12-hour shifts with a requirement to work 3 shifts during the weekend within a 4-week period. Holiday shifts will be integrated into the permanent staff rotation.
Unit Information
The unit consists of 30 beds, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5. Both pharmacy and respiratory therapy services are available 24/7 to support patient care.
Orientation and Training
Orientation will include two shifts focused on unit-specific procedures and expectations. Nurses will undergo simulations to demonstrate competency in required clinical skills.
Patient Demographics
Common diagnoses in this unit include post-operative transplants, Whipple procedures, orthopedic joint surgeries, and trauma-related conditions.
Cancellation Policy
The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks.
