As a Supervisory Personnel Security Specialist (Section Chief), GS-14 you will perform the following duties:

• Serve as the authoritative source and subject matter expert on personnel security vetting assigned area, advising agency officials and staff.
• Issue guidance and ensure compliance with personnel security vetting policies and regulations.
• Advises on developments and advancements in personnel security vetting programs, such as suitability/fitness, national security eligibility, or continuous evaluation.
• Plan, direct, and oversee all personnel security vetting resources and programs under the section's purview.
• Coordinate with internal and external partners to support personnel security vetting investigations and determinations.

You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:

• Serving as a technical authority in monitoring background investigations or adjudicative determinations related to personnel vetting;
• Analyzing background investigation information to determine if sufficient evidence exists to support credentialing, fitness, suitability and security determinations;
• Determining the suitability and/or national security eligibility of individuals for entry or retention in sensitive and non-sensitive positions;
• Overseeing programs related to personnel security vetting, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission; OR
• Providing junior staff with ongoing training on personnel vetting policies and procedures.

Supervisory Probationary Period: This is a supervisory position. Under provisions of the Civil Service Reform Act, first time supervisors and/or managers will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.
