Food Service Specialist

Job Location: Saint Petersburg - 1735 Martin Luther King S Floor 1 - Saint Petersburg, FL 33705 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: High School Salary Range: $16.00 - $17.00 Hourly Job Category: Nonprofit - Social Services Position Summary Person in this position will assist in the provision of meals to facilities. Essential Job Functions include those listed below. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare all meals in accordance with approved menus, meeting mealtime schedules. Record client/staff meal census. Maintain high (Health Department) standards, cleanliness, sanitation, and always wear gloves, hairnets, or caps within food preparation and serving areas. Prepare requisitions for food and commodities as needed. Receive and store all deliveries properly. Assure that equipment is in good operating condition and that temperatures are within proper standards. Be constantly aware of fire and safety hazards. Report repair/maintenance needs to supervisor. Label, date, and store all leftovers in accordance with safe food handling requirements. Always maintain professional standards with food preparation and handling, and maintain a high level of good housekeeping. Maintain current inventory of all commodities and stored goods. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and some weekends. Complete documentation of services, if required, on provided forms in a timely manner. Assist other WestCare staff as needed in a collaborative manner to promote cooperation and portray a professional image to the community. Essential Qualifications One year experience in institutional food service. Valid Florida Driver’s license. Ability to work collaboratively with others in a manner that is pleasant and professional. Certified Food Handler Certification or ability to acquire within 90 days (Serve Safe preferred). Ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion. Ability to operate a computer and complete documents in Microsoft Word program formats or the ability to learn. Ability to respond as needed to crisis situations in an efficient manner. Ability to complete work tasks within scheduled work hours. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Willing to seek new work projects and contribute ideas and efforts to the constant improvement of WestCare Gulf Coast-Florida services. During tenure, may be subject to new requirements, including vaccinations issued by local, state, federal, and/or funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or equivalent Working Conditions Indoor and outdoor setting. Potential for high noise level at times. Regular attendance is required.
