Election Judge Position
The City of Bloomington is hiring election judges for the August 11, 2026, Primary Election and the November 3, 2026, General Election. Election judges play a critical role in our democracy. As an election judge, you are responsible for administering election procedures at the polling place. This is a great opportunity to serve your community and learn about the election process.

Examples of Duties
- Arrive at my polling place at the assigned time.
- Be courteous and respectful to all voters regardless of race, physical challenge or efficiency in the English language.
- Read the Election Judge Guide prior to Election Day and participate in the Election Judge Training.
- Be responsible for the security of election equipment and supplies.
- Complete all election documentation accurately and completely.
- Support and report immediately to the Head Judge any malfunction or possible tampering of voting equipment, unusual or suspicious behavior occurring in the polling room or any other event or occurrence that may threaten the accurate gathering or sanctity of the vote.
- Abstain from making personal and political opinion comments while serving as an election judge.
Minimum/Desirable Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Are a United States citizen
- Are eligible to vote in Minnesota (or are serving as a student election judge)
- Are able to read, write, and speak English clearly
- Are not a relative (spouse, parent, stepparent, child, stepchild, sibling, stepsibling) of another election judge in the same precinct, or a candidate on the ballot
- Is not a candidate in that election, or live with (either permanently or temporarily) any candidate on the ballot
BLOOMINGTON QUALIFICATIONS
- Attend election judge training (approximately three hours)
- Work at all of the election judge stations
- Provide excellent customer service
- Treat all voters with respect
- Pay attention to detail
- Be proficient in math as well as organized
- Follow direction given by the head judge
Supplemental Information
Assistant Head Election Judges supervise regular Election Judges.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $14.00 $17.00 Hourly
2026 Full Salary Range: $14.00 $17.00 Hourly
