PIPEFITTER LEADER

Summary You will serve as a PIPEFITTER LEADER in the Department of the Navy, working at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Trident Refit Facility Bangor, and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility. Applicants are considered only for positions within their own Underground Industrial Classification (UIC). Responsibilities Receive and interpret instructions from supervisors to initiate work. Collaborate with coworkers to maintain workflow pace. Ensure plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available and obtain stock from supply locations. Maintain current knowledge and answer co‑worker questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and directives. Conditions of Employment Must be a U.S. Citizen and suitable for federal employment. Must participate in direct deposit pay program. New employees must pass E‑Verify employment verification. Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim or final security clearance. Must comply with dress‑code for personal protective equipment. May be required to work in environments with hazardous physical or chemical agents and participate in medical surveillance programs. May require exposure to high noise levels. Must be willing to travel by military or commercial aircraft on a regular basis. May need to work nights, weekends, and holidays; overtime or night differential pay may be required. May be subject to drug testing; failure to comply may result in rescinding a tentative offer. The required element is a strong ability to lead or supervise. Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (CA): wages per applicable FWS schedules. Norfolk Naval Shipyard (VA): wages per applicable FWS schedules. Norfolk Naval Shipyard (PA): wages per applicable FWS schedules.
