The Senior Accountant will become a subject matter expert on the monthly revenue and member activity for the Senior Community Care business. They will be responsible for preparing and posting journal entries, creating reporting and performing ad hoc analysis on areas of expertise. The role includes maintaining balance sheet reconciliations for receivable and liability accounts used in monthly entries and organizing commentary on P&L or BS accounts to assist in the preparation of accurate financial statements. This role provides opportunities to collaborate with the accounting team, the finance team and other areas of the business. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. Some hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Primary Responsibilities Prepare journal entries primarily related to membership, revenue and SG&A to support the month-end close Prepare monthly reporting to supplement the month-end close Prepare quality account reconciliations and drive quality improvements Provide audit support to internal and external auditors Perform ad hoc membership and revenue variance analysis and investigate differences Refresh monthly flux files and provide meaningful commentary for period-over-period variances on the P&L and balance sheet Create and maintain process documentation You will be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that provides clear direction and development opportunities. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting 2+ years of finance and accounting experience Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office products Self-motivated with strong attention to detail Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities Effective time management to meet deadlines Ability to take ownership of assignments Preferred Qualifications Accounting and Finance systems experience – PeopleSoft, SmartView / Essbase Experience working with large datasets All employees working remotely must adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy. Compensation and Benefits Pay is based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. In addition to salary, benefits include a comprehensive package, incentive programs, equity stock purchase and 401(k) contribution (eligibility applies). The salary range for this role is $60,200 – $107,400 annually based on full-time employment; we comply with applicable wage laws.
