Job Summary Under general supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, this position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semi‑skilled duties in the maintenance of buildings and grounds. Principal Job Duties Clean restrooms by cleaning and sanitizing toilets, washing stalls and walls, scrubbing floors, emptying trash, and replenishing soap and paper products. Clean the buildings by dusting, wiping all counter areas, emptying trash, cleaning stairs, corners and base boards, and vacuuming carpeted areas. Wash windows and clean blinds according to a predetermined schedule. Mow and trim the lawn areas; weed and pick up trash as necessary. Shovel snow, maintain sidewalks and assist in keeping premises safe and in orderly condition. Maintain confidentiality: avoid reviewing or reading desktop information and maintain confidentiality during office cleaning. Maintain security: have access to secure areas; do not share access or key cards without approval; ensure doors are locked when leaving. Perform other duties as assigned. Maintenance Inspect buildings and structures to detect malfunctions and needed repairs. Perform preventive maintenance. Maintain, repair and replace HVAC system components with working knowledge of HVAC systems. Perform minor electrical maintenance (e.g., replace or repair fixtures, switches, outlets, bulbs, fuses, etc.) using appropriate tools. Perform minor plumbing maintenance (repair leaks, unclog drains, repair toilets, urinals, and other plumbing components). Perform minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work. Reconfigure, install, and remount modular offices and space (furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets) using hand, power, and specialty tools. Order parts and maintain required documents. Coordinate special projects as directed. Perform other work‑related duties as assigned. Work flexible hours. Cater to 24‑hour emergency maintenance. Education & Minimum Job Requirements Completion of high school or equivalent. Experience & Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of machines and tools including designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction or repair of buildings, highways, roads. Perform routine maintenance on equipment. Repair machines or systems using needed tools. Determine causes of operating errors and decide how to address them. Use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions. Determine appropriate tools and equipment for tasks. Recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong. Service, repair, adjust, and test machines, devices, and equipment operating on mechanical principles. Proficient in materials, tools, procedures, and safety rules for building, grounds, facilities maintenance. Perform manual labor for extended periods in all weather. Accurately and effectively transmit and receive information, including written and oral communication. Maintain courteous relationships with public, County departments, co‑workers, and other agencies. Necessary Special Requirements Valid Colorado Motor Vehicle Driver’s License. Pass background check: criminal and traffic. Working phone (land line or cell). Legal authorization to work in the United States (citizenship or authorization). Possible Health Risks Specific To This Position This position has been determined to be an extreme exposure risk to biohazards associated with blood‑borne pathogens—HIV, HAV, HBV—and airborne transmissions of TB. Employees are advised that exposure may result in severe illness or death. Protective equipment and clothing are required. Vaccinations for HAV, HBV, TB, chickenpox, Tdap, meningococcal, MMR, and influenza are provided; some may be required only once. Employees who decline vaccination will need to sign a declination. Physical Requirements And Work Environment Work is performed indoors and outdoors in various climates. Physical demands: medium exertion up to 75 lbs occasionally, 30 lbs frequently, 20 lbs constantly. Must have full range of neck/shoulder movement. Tasks may include data entry and computer use. Vision requirements: close, distance, depth perception, adjust focus, color, peripheral vision. Noise levels vary from loud to moderate. Schedule Monday‑Friday, with potential emergency calls during evenings, weekends, and holidays. Supervisory None.
