People seek guidance from a Registered Dietitian (RD) for many reasons, whether to maximize wellness, learn healthier eating habits or decrease the risk of chronic diseases. No matter the reason, you will help these patients develop personal diet plans to achieve their goals.

This is a part-time role. A caregiver in this position works days, between 8:00am and 4:30pm or 7:30am and 4:00pm. This role will provide support to Akron and Medina Cleveland Clinic facilities.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide direct patient care using medical nutrition therapy for an assigned patient population.
• Serve as a nutritional care specialist.
• Provide counseling and education services to patients. Initiate nutrient intake assessments, implement a nutritional care plan, communicate plan, establish a follow up system and maintain documentation.
• Coordinate efforts of dietetic technician(s) assigned to area.
• Develop and contribute to Cleveland Clinic sponsored education programs.
• Create and revise education materials related to disease management through medical nutrition therapy.
• Support the dietetic internship program as a supervised practice rotation preceptor and class instructor.
• Participate in program development.
• Market nutrition services to potential and current referral sources.
• Conduct research; act as a technical resource for the development, implementation, publishing and presentation.
• Develop and implement services.
• Contribute to initiatives, committees and projects.
• Complete productivity reports.
• Participate in professional growth activities; attend and contribute to conferences and seminars on nutrition and related topics.
• Comply with all regulatory organizations including CMS, JCAHO, AOA and policy and procedures of the department and Cleveland Clinic.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or a related field
• Must also possess clinical specialty credential or advanced degree in nutrition (e.g. MS degree in Nutrition, MPH in Public Health Nutrition, Med. Master's Degree in Nutrition Education, etc)
• Current licensure as a Licensed Dietitian (LD)
• Active certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD)
• Minimum three years prior experience as a Registered Dietitian in therapeutic nutrition, with responsibility for nutritional assessment, nutrition care plan development and patient follow up.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• One year of experience as a Registered Dietitian in Clinical Nutrition OR successful completion of CCF Dietetic Internship Program

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to navigate extensively to provide services to a large number of patients throughout the hospital and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer entry.
• Must have physical ability to measure and weigh patients.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
