The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Keyport Division (NUWCDIVKPT) Detachment Pacific (Code 04/TDC) functions as NUWC’s forward presence in the Middle Pacific, Guam, and Western Pacific (WESTPAC) providing Detachment/Site Management in accordance with the Commanding Officer's (CO) letter of delegated authority to provide for program management, planning, policy, and execution of assigned programs and facility operations at the Detachment; monitor Safety and Occupational Health (SOH), physical and information security, personnel administration, including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and professional development and morale, environmental compliance, appropriate interaction with all levels of Government and public affairs functions, site and area coordination for emergency preparedness, facilities management and space utilization, site material readiness, proper use of Government equipment and proper expenditure of funds, and adherence to good management practices and controls; manage the Detachment/On-Site Office (OSO); perform Navy programs duties under authority; manage military personnel allowance in accordance with Navy regulations, including Article 15 authority (non-judicial punishment); and serve as the Command's representative to the local installation CO or facility host in negotiating for utilities, security services, and facility maintenance. Divisions supported within this task are Hawaii Fleet Test and Operational Assessment Division (Code 24), Pearl Harbor Torpedo Division (Code 34), and Fleet Technical Support Division (Code 45). Reporting to the Program Manager, the Electronic Technician Maintenance supports the Submarine Fleet Technical Support Division in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii . This team is responsible for maintenance and deployment of support equipment associated with submarine operations and load-out. This includes maintenance, inventory control, transportation, and handling services for inert submarine weapons and vertical launch system support equipment, submarine acoustic countermeasure handling equipment, external countermeasures launchers, and weapons cradles. Although this position is based in Pearl Harbor, you may be required to provide flyaway support to locations throughout the Pacific Rim including San Diego, Bangor, Bremerton, and Guam. What You'll Do Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, modify, and install various types of Navy equipment and related devices. Perform preventative maintenance and preservation activities, including sanding, needle gunning, rust removal, surface preparation, painting, and general corrosion control in support of equipment and facility upkeep. Understand and comply with guidance in manufacturer's manuals, Navy instructions, technical drawings, and other related documentation. Participate in the movement of heavy equipment via truck, crane, and forklift in a high-tempo industrial environment. Support general shop and waterfront maintenance activities as required to maintain operational readiness and safety standards. Bid and proposal support if requested. Other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications: The ability to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position. At least one (1) year of experience performing preventative maintenance and preservation activities in an industrial, maritime, or shipboard environment, including sanding, needle gunning, rust and corrosion removal, surface preparation, and painting. Must demonstrate the ability to execute problem-solving associated with maintaining, transporting, loading, and setting up complex machinery in a dynamic environment. Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively, efficiently, and safely in an industrial environment. Must possess a basic mechanical aptitude. Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Must possess strong time management skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment. Desired Qualifications: Experience in warehouse operations. Licensed forklift operator. Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Experience conducting preventative maintenance on heavy equipment. Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking. The ability to lift items that may weigh up to 50 pounds. The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area, or on-board ships, submarines, and/or in weapon facilities. The ability to operate heavy machinery and industrial tools with limited to no supervision. Examples may include but are not limited to: Electric/Diesel Forklift, CNC Milling Machine, Welding/Soldering, CAT III Overhead Crane, pallet jack, 'Big Joe' stand-behind pallet lift mechanism, and more. INDUS aims to provide a competitive compensation package, including a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is $35.13 per hour – $36.29 per hour.
