Every day at Food Bank for Larimer County, thousands of people across our community rely on something many of us take for granted: access to nutritious food. The Kitchen provides meals for members of our community through multiple different programs and provides support and relief to those who genuinely need it. The Driver plays a pivotal role in ensuring we are able to distribute the food made by our kitchen. Summary: As a Community Kitchen Driver & Technician, you play a key role in preparing and delivering nutritious meals to kids, families, and seniors across our community. Working in our year-round commercial kitchen, you'll help cook, package, and transport mealswhile supporting volunteers, operating our summer food truck, and ensuring food safety and vehicle readiness. This role is hands-on, mission-driven, and vital to expanding food access with dignity and care.

Kitchen & Meal Options (40%)

• Prepare meals, incorporating donated items to reduce cost and waste.
• Maintain cleanliness, manage kitchen inventory, and complete required documentation.
• Support volunteers through orientation, training, and day-to-day guidance.
• Source food items, track and stage deliveries, and follow efficient packaging practices.

Driving (45%)

• Deliver meals daily on scheduled routes to partner sites, including vending machines, ensuring timely refills and reporting any delays or issues to the Kitchen Manager.
• Load/unload supplies and maintain accurate inventory at sites.
• Operate the Launch Lab Food Truck (JuneAugust), engaging with the public and overseeing volunteers.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness through routine checks, basic maintenance, and repair coordination.

Compliance & Community Engagement (10%)

• Log food temperatures, complete delivery sheets, and ensure site compliance.
• Represent the organization professionally while educating volunteers and the community on Kids Cafe programs.

General (5%)

• Maintain adherence to FBLC safety, OSHA, and food safety standards, prioritizing safety for oneself and others, including when operating company equipment or vehicles.
• When representing the organization in local, state, and regional collaborations, take care to embody organizational values.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to various viewpoints, including those shaped by different generations and cultures, while delivering exceptional customer service through kindness and engagement in all stakeholder interactions.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Education & Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Comfortable working in changing environments, interacting with the public, and representing the organization professionally.
• Comfortable driving large vehicles (including a food truck), with attention to safety, basic maintenance, and route coordination with at least one (1) year of professional driving experience required.
• Ability to follow delivery schedules, meet deadlines, and keep operations running smoothly with minimal supervision.
• Experience in a kitchen setting with an understanding of food safety standards, portioning, and efficient meal prep.

Pre-Employment Screening Requirements:

• Successful completion of all pre-screening requirements.
• Passing of the WorkSTEPS job-specific test.
• 21+ years of age and possession of a valid U.S. Driver's License with a good driving record, as confirmed through an MVR check.

Language Skills & Ability: Proficiency in English required, bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and online technologies is essential.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct reports but may support the coordination of volunteers.

Work Environment: Primarily works in a kitchen environment located within a warehouse, with intermittent exposure to outdoor elements such as cold, heat, and rain.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Travel: Local travel between the 3 organizational sites is the primary expectation during business hours, with occasional visits to partner sites (Greeley, Red Feather Lakes, Estes, etc.). Mileage reimbursement is provided for work-related travel.
